All About Jonathan Krause
Jonathan Krause is pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in oboe performance at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Krause studies oboe with Nancy Ambrose King, performs in the Concert Band, and performs in a woodwind quintet called the Jade Juleps. He is also a skilled vocalist and sings in the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club. During high school, Jonathan performed in the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony, the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s All-State Band, Michigan Youth Arts Honors Band, and Regional Honors Bands. He also attended summer camps including the Interlochen Arts Camp six-week orchestra and wind ensemble program, Central Michigan University Oboe Reed Making Camp, and the Western Michigan University Summer High School Seminar. In 2016, Krause played in an accompanying orchestra to the U.S. premiere of Gasparo Sborgi's Organ Concerto in D major, commissioned by the American Guild of Organists. Krause previously studied oboe with Sarah Southard at Hope College. He attended Reeths-Puffer High School, graduating in 2020. Krause plans to become a professional oboist and expand the popularity of the oboe across multiple genres.
